Wednesday's Homework
Language Arts: "Vocabulary Worksheet."
Reading: Read for 30 minutes.
Math: "Homework Practice 5-9" (ca.gr4math.com)


***Students have a Social Studies Test on Friday (9/24). If they know these next 10 questions, they will do well on the test. (We did these following questions in class together on a worksheet yesterday.)

1. What is a Continent? A giant chunk of land on the Earth's surface. ( For example, Antarctica, Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia, North America, South America. The student's are not tested on the names of the seven continents.)
2. What is climate? The usual weather of a place over time.
3. What is a natural resource? Anything in nature that people use. (For example, rocks, water, gold, animals, etc.)
4. What is a renewable resource? Resources that don't have a limited supply that will run out. (For example, plants, animals, and water.)
5. What is a nonrenewable resource? Resources that have a limited supply. (For example, gold, oil, coal, and natural gas.)
6. What is the imaginary line called that goes around the middle of the earth? The equator.
7. What are California's four main regions? The mountain, desert, coastal, and central valley regions.
8. What is a landform? A shape or feature on the earth's surface. (For example, mountains, valleys, volcanoes, and hills are types of landforms.)
9. What are the different characteristics of California's four main regions. (Desert: Dry, arid, limited rain, limited plant and wildlife. Coastal: Beaches, cool weather, sea life. Mountains: Forests, a lot of wildlife, and contains mountains. Central Valley: flat, grassy, excellent area for farming.)
10. What created  California's mountains long ago? Volcanoes.
