Writing/Story Genre of the week:Biography. Vocabulary Words 1. thicket- a thick or dense growth of shrubs, bushes, or small trees.2. depart-to go away; leave.3.trudged-to walk, especially laboriously or wearily: to trudge up a long flight of steps. 4. essential-absolutely necessary; indispensable: Discipline is essential in an army. 5. shaft-a vertical passageway into a mine   6. quivered-to shake with a slight but rapid motion; vibrate tremulously; tremble. 7. aviator-a pilot of an airplane or other heavier-than-air aircraft.
Spelling: Schwa words. A vowel that gives no clue to its spelling is a schwa. Examples: mystery, science, fortune… Grammar: Conjunctions. Words that connect sentences, phrases, and clauses together. Examples: For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. Writing Trait of the Week: Focus/Ideas.	Comprehension Skill: Cause and Effect. Comprehension Strategy: Predict and Answer Questions.

Tuesday's Homework

Read: Read for 30 minutes, and fill out reading log.

If you would like extra practice on what will be on the California State Test. Google the phrase, "4th grade CST released questions." the first couple results will be all the questions on the test from 2008. Using this online resource is an amazing way to prepare, especially for math.

California State Testing begins tomorrow!!!

Hello parents,
Tuesday through Thursday is State testing. Each morning we will test. Tuesday and Wednesday will be language arts, and Thursday and Friday will be math. Be sure your child is well rested and fed on these days.

You may google "cst released questions 4th grade" to see previous state test questions to review with your child.

...and the only homework for this week is the reading log.

Thursday's Homework

Read: Read for thirty minutes, and turn in reading log.
Language Arts: Complete compound sentence worksheet.
***State Testing begins next Tuesday through Friday.

Wednesday's Homework

Math: Math Review #2 Packet.
Read: Read for 30 minutes. Log it into the reading log.
Language Arts: Complete "WOC Packet."
**By the way, a great online resource to practice questions on the CST with your child is by "googling" "4th grade CST release questions". Do some practice at home together by practicing the release questions with your child at home and over the weekend.

Tuesday's Homework

Math: Skills Practice 11-5.
Read: Read for 30 minutes. Reading log.
Writing: Write a story about what happens when you meet the Easter Bunny.
***Fun Run is tomorrow morning. Bring money you have raised if you wish to participate.

Wednesday's Homework

Math: Complete equivalent fractions worksheet.
Read: read 30 minutes, and turn in reading log.
Spelling: Choose activity.

***Friday and Tuesday is No School.

Tuesday's Homework

Math: complete math page printout. Study for chapter 16 test that we take tomorrow.
Read: Read for 30 minutes, and fill out reading log. (The students were given their reading logs today.)
Spelling: Complete a spelling activity.
***Spring Concert tonight. Students are to arrive at 5:15pm.

Monday's Homework

Math: Skills Practice 16-2 (We are retesting chapter 16 on Wednesday.)
Read: Read for 30 minutes. (I forgot to attach the reading log. The students will have it by tomorrow.)

***Collect and turn in on Tuesday money for the TVIS fun run if you so choose.
